It has been nine years since the release of SIDzCarbonatedMilk’s last project offering “The Men in Martian Ice” (SW7999MIMI). Seven years of which, Jack Marchbanks and SIDney Howard (a.k.a. Enteje ) have been prolifically providing insightful commentary on popular music on public radio. Now off the sidelines, SID and Jack are putting themselves "back in the game" (and back on the map) as SCM player-coaches on "SIDon 'S'on the Map"--a funky Middle Eastern flavored instrumental. It features the masterful rhythms of Beirut-born virtuoso tablah percussionist Farouk Aboukar, along with haunting phrasing of “mystery vocalist” Syster Owaye and SCM's usual unusual electro P-Funk foundations.
SIDon REALLY is on the map, by the way. Sidon is an ancient, beautiful Lebanese
city located on the Mediterranean Sea coast, about 30 miles south
of Beirut. And in one favored etymological explanation, the name “Sidney”
was originally used to characterize one as being from Sidon. It’s
all come full circle like the equator—also on the map.
